For the twentieth year in a row, 35 third-grade students visited Achenbach and Campus Buschhütten last week as part of the project “Making Things at Achenbach”. With great expertise, creativity, and humor, our young friends from the neighborhood received training as “Safety Detectives” from Dr. Sandra Groos, Achenbach’s occupational safety expert:
What belongs to personal protective equipment? Which mandatory signs exist and what do they mean? What can I do to protect myself in everyday working life? During a tour through the assembly and production halls, the children then had the chance to go on a discovery mission themselves and search for different mandatory safety signs. 🔍🦺⚠️
Things became especially exciting during the practical demonstrations: Through experiments involving carrots, potatoes, and a melon named Helmut, the children were shown in an impressive and memorable way how helmets, cut-resistant gloves, and safety shoes protect us. ⛑️🧤
The day was rounded off with a delicious breakfast, ice cream at the end, and of course small prizes and souvenirs for both young and old. 🍦✨
The children were thrilled, the adults too, and the atmosphere was fantastic. After 20 years, Dr. Gabriele Barten, the project’s initiator and organizer, handed over her heartfelt project to Dr. Antonia Barten and her marketing team, thanking the outstanding leadership team of Friedrich von Bodelschwingh Primary School, and is delighted that it will continue to be carried on with love and enthusiasm. 💙
