Following the commissioning of the first Achenbach OPTIMILL® Foil Rolling Mill in mid-April, the second foil rolling mill has now also successfully rolled its first coil. With this achievement, both foil rolling mills of the new Achenbach SMART Plant are now in operation.
Built on a greenfield site, the plant further includes an Achenbach OPTIFOIL SepaSlit® and an Achenbach HeavySlit® for foil processing, as well as an Achenbach AIRPURE® System for exhaust air purification and an Achenbach SUPERSTACK® II Filtration System for rolling oil cleaning.
The two state-of-the-art foil rolling mills combine cutting-edge technology with a high level of automation to meet the highest demands for foil quality, sustainability and productivity while ensuring low energy consumption and reduced emissions. Highlights include the Achenbach UniHeat® Curved Hot Edge System, which uses inductive strip edge heating to achieve optimum strip flatness while reducing energy consumption, as well as the Achenbach UniTorque® Direct Drive Technology, which combines outstanding energy efficiency with reduced CO₂ emissions, lower maintenance requirements and maximum process control.
With this new SMART Plant, Saray is laying the foundation to become a leading supplier of high-class aluminium foil in Europe. The new production facility will enable the manufacture of premium foil solutions for a wide range of demanding applications – from EV batteries and flexible packaging to food, pharmaceutical and industrial markets.
