Hydraulic systems are essential to the performance of rolling mills. However, high energy consumption and noise emissions no longer have to be accepted as unavoidable side effects.
With Achenbach EcoPump, we are challenging this assumption. Developed for rolling mill applications, EcoPump combines high energy efficiency, dynamic performance, low noise emissions and intelligent digital control.
A current field trial at a customer site is confirming the assumptions behind its development. After a short changeover period, EcoPump achieved an average efficiency of approximately 87% - measured as the ratio of the hydraulic power output to the motors’ electrical power input.
The result particularly impressed our customer and demonstrates the strong potential of EcoPump under real operating conditions. Integrated into OPTILINK, the test setup can be accessed remotely by our team in Buschhütten, enabling continuous monitoring, analysis and support.
In addition to its high efficiency, EcoPump offers significantly reduced noise emissions, improved dynamic performance with up to 60% lower pressure fluctuations during load changes, and fast commissioning through complete preassembly and testing. With typical operating times of around 7,000 hours per year, EcoPump offers both ecological and economic benefits. Its compact design makes it suitable for both new installations and the modernization of existing rolling mills.
The successful field trial provides an important foundation for the next phase of the market introduction. As part of a major order for Saudi Arabia, we will supply four EcoPump Low Pressure Systems – bringing the technology into further rolling mill applications.
