Following a major fire in 2022, an advanced Achenbach OPTIMILL® 6-High Strip Rolling Mill at Gränges Europe , Konin has been successfully rebuilt and is now fully operational. ✅ We are proud to have supported this effort delivering our advanced technology. Designed for the production of high-magnesium alloys, the exceptionally strong mill features several key innovations:
➤ Asymmetric rolling capability with torque 3.5 times higher than in conventional mills
➤ Energy-efficient fume exhaust systems enhancing environmental performance
➤ The Achenbach UniHeat® Advanced Hot Edge System, providing precise control of strip edge temperature
➤ Maximum flexibility for production of soft and hard alloys provided by an outstanding wide range of rolling force
These features support the growing demand for lightweight, high-strength aluminium in sectors such as e-mobility and automotive manufacturing. 🚗⚡The new rolling mill brings Gränges Europe's production capacity to 260,000 tonnes 📈, strengthening its position in the competitive European aluminium market. It also improves cost efficiency by integrating into existing equipment and enables Gränges to serve customers in multiple niches thanks to the mill’s distinctive technical capabilities.
Rebuilding the mill within an active production environment brought significant logistical and technical challenges. However, close collaboration and clear communication between Achenbach and Gränges teams ensured smooth execution and excellent performance🤝.
