This week, 35 third graders were invited to get a taste of the Achenbach world. This year, everything revolved around the topic of Hashtag#Hauberg: What is this centuries-old form of forest management, which only exists in Hashtag#Siegerland, actually all about? The children have already prepared a lot of this in class over the past few weeks, but what does all this actually have to do with the Achenbach company? To find out, after a delicious breakfast, the children were taken on a short historical journey through the company history of Axel E. Barten and given a tour of the Achenbach factory halls with production manager Achim Niwar.
Afterwards, however, it was time to get hands-on, as they continued on the Achenbach bus to the Historic Hauberg. Here, the children were welcomed by three rangers from the Siegen-Wittgenstein Regional Forestry Office and were able to discover for themselves how the forest was managed in the past. The varied program was rounded off by the Dielfer Backesverein, which kneaded and baked real Hashtag#Schanzenbrote with the children in its mobile Hashtag#Backes.
“Sachen machen bei Achenbach” is an initiative by Dr. Gabriele Barten, which has been an integral part of the Hashtag#Freundschaft between Achenbach and the Friedrich von Bodelschwingh-Schule Buschhütten since 2006. As every year, the event was a real highlight for young and old alike. Many thanks to everyone involved for making this day unforgettable, especially to the great volunteers from the Förderverein Historischer Hauberg Fellinghausen and the Dielfer Backesverein!
