Keep cool – even at 250 km/h

Driving a car at speeds of up to 250 km/h requires maximum engine performance, which is only possible with perfect cooling, or more specifically, with cooling units for water and oil. The starting material used by the automotive industry to manufacture extremely thin aluminum cooling fins – thin strip aluminum (fin stock) with a thickness of 40 µm (0.04 mm) – is efficiently produced on Achenbach slitting machines. Output coils 1.80 meters in diameter are cut into large discs at a speed of 800 m/min. For extremely narrow slitting widths of 10 mm, small individual contact rollers are used to hold each strip securely in place; this gives the lateral cut surface of each disc a mirror-like effect.
