Inspection and Optimization
The periodically scheduled inspection and optimization of the equipment, carried out by Achenbach specialists, provide a long-lasting optimum equipment performance: total productivity and rolled product quality will be maximized and production down-times prevented as far as possible. Minor optimizations, such as system settings, etc., will be carried out directly and lessons learnt will be shared.
Occasionally requested, the inspection of one or more subassemblies or functions allows, beyond the Fitness Check, an extensive assessment of the equipment performance.
For this purpose pre-structured inspection packages are offered for rolling mills and foil slitting machines, which can quite simply be adapted to the individual request and needs of the customer. In general, the following inspection packages are available:
- Mechanics of the rolling mill, resp. foil slitting machine
- Control technology of the rolling mill, resp. foil slitting machine
- OPTIROLL® i2 flatness measuring roll, installed in the rolling mill
- Drive technology of the foil slitting machine
- OPTIROLL® i2 control systems of the rolling mill
- Technological control of the foil slitting machine
- Hydraulics and pneumatics of the rolling mill, resp. foil slitting machine
- Slitting technology
- Rolling oil systems
- SUPERSTACK® filtration systems
- WOR® rectification systems
- AIRPURE® exhaust air cleaning systems
The Equipment Inspection Comprises Services such as:
- Detailed determination, assessment and reporting of equipment performance
- Implementation of defined maintenance activities
- Extensive indication of non used potentials

The Following Actions may follow the Equipment Inspection:
- Offer of equipment optimization or modernization
- Offer of operator training or support during operation of the equipment
- Realization and organization of equipment optimization or modernization
The equipment inspection can lead to an optimization or modernization project of different dimensions, especially when meanwhile relevant innovations had been made in this respect.
As far as building of rolling mills is concerned, this applies, in addition to the tailor-made construction and drive technological troubleshooting, on the one hand to the Achenbach OPTIROLL® i2 basic controls and technological controls with all their modules, including hardware components such as flatness measuring rolls.
On the other hand, the SUPERSTACK® filtration and AIRPURE® exhaust air cleaning technology could be the starting point for a modernization of mill production. Finally the process systems themselves could be part of this inspection.
With regard to the foil slitting machines, the optimization of the drive and automation technology as well as the modernization of foil doublers, separators and slitting machines are in the foreground.
