In strip rolling mills the arrangement of the patented SGC® position transducers is the basis for an optimum strip thickness control. The direct distance measurement of the backup roll chocks allows a precise position control of the roll gap without mill module interference. Force control and position control are realized by hydraulic cylinders and the quickly acting servo hydraulics which is especially adapted to Achenbach mechanics.
