Strip Thickness Gauges

The non-contact radiometric strip thickness gauges are based on the principle that, due to absorption, the signal, which is electrically generated in the detector, is in proportion to the strip thickness during radiation of the strip by the beta radiation source (x-ray). The strip thickness is measured in the strip centre and in optimum proximity to the roll gap. In case it is sufficient to measure the strip thickness at the strip edges, strip thickness gauges, using the eddy-current method, can also be applied as alternative to the radiometric measurement method.
