Condusens® Conductivity Measurement

CONDUSENS® is a sensor, developed by Achenbach in collaboration with Südwestfalen university of applied sciences for online measurement of the electrical conductivity of rolling oils.

Technical Features of CONDUSENS®:

  • Measuring range from 10 to 20,000 pS/m
  • Excellent resolution of measuring signal
  • Superior dynamic range
  • Kappa 40: temperature corrected conductivity by adaptive temperature compensation

Rolling oil is used as coolant/lubricant in aluminium rolling mills. In case of malfunctions of the mill, e.g. strip breaks, the formation of sparks cannot be excluded. Even when the conductivity is too low, the rolling oil could become inflamed. The flowing oil will then build up electric charges, which could result in a flashover. The CONDUSENS® sensor is an important instrument for measuring the rolling oil quality. It gives a warning, when the conductivity is too low and indicates the degree of contamination since conductivity and contamination degree correlate with each other.
